Review of Community Centered Early Warning Early Action Systems

This research was commisioned by Concern Worldwide for learning and advocacy purposes. The findings will be fed into ongoing policy and programming debates and discussions on promoting EWEA. It looks at how the dissemination of early warning information support communities to drive their own early action, and how can the perpsective and prioirities identified by crisis-afected people be fed into, and inform wider EWEA structures operating at scale, and thus ensure that early action is taken.

Improving the Lives of the Urban Extreme Poor (ILUEP): Understanding Urban Livelihood Trajectories in Bangladesh

This research project follows the livelihood trajectories of urban extreme poor people who were selected into Concern’s integrated livelihoods support programme in urban Dhaka and Chittagong. The research seeks to understand why different households follow different livelihood trajectories, during and after their participation in the ILUEP programme and to identify any additional support that could provide the prospects of sustainable movements out of extreme poverty for ILUEP participants, and to strengthen their resilience against future livelihood shocks and stresses.

Coping with COVID-19: The Impact on the Extreme Poor

This piece draws on a series of case studies from four countries where Concern Worldwide works: Bangladesh, Malawi, Somalia and Sierra Leone. The report itself focuses on the secondary impact of Covid-19 and the in-country response on people’s livelihoods, their access to food and water, changes in prices, and their access to health care and children’s access to education. It also looks at how people are coping and how they have engaged with formal support programmes that have been provided.

The Coalition of European Lobbies for Eastern African Pastoralism (CELEP) is an informal coalition of European members and East African partners focusing on lobbying, communication and knowledge management in favour of pastoralism in Eastern Africa. This summary document outlines six global webinars that took place in 2020, each focused on a specific theme related to pastoralism and hosted by a CELEP member or partner.
